Illumination: The hibernation / moulting process by which a draconic changes from one form to another. This occurs three times, from troglodyte to adult, from adult to a mature form and finally (if the draconic is fortunate enough to live long enough) into an ancient form. The process can take from months to years, during which time the dracon is encased in a chrysalis. It is thought of as a period of meditation, reflection and contemplation as well as an often radical change in physical form.
